At the joint commemorative session in the University of Sarajevo Rectorate and the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences held on 18 November 2019, in the University of Sarajevo Ceremonial Hall, family, friends, colleagues and academic community members bid farewell to distinguished Professor Emeritus Jusuf Mulić, University of Sarajevo Rector in the period 1991/92 to 1992/93.

On behalf of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, Professor Emeritus Vjekoslav Selak addressed the attendees, pointing out that Professor Emeritus Jusuf Mulić was the Head of the Department of Microeconomics, Director of the Department of Economics of Agriculture and Food Industry, Dean of the Faculty (1981-1983) and University of Sarajevo Rector (1991-1993).
Emphasizing that he had been a mentor in many graduate, nine master's and five doctoral theses, Professor Selak stated that Professor Mulić was an extremely prolific researcher and writer. “He has written and published over 150 scientific and professional papers, two monographs, and one textbook and one practicum. In his written word in three monographs on Konjic, he was an inexhaustible painter of the remote medieval, Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian times of this region. He wrote and published in total 27 monographs on the history of BiH, numismatics and education, as well as a two-volume Biographical Lexicon of Konjic with a college education. He wrote in a simple style so that every sentence he wrote had his own anchor that could not be moved anywhere” said Professor Selak. He also stressed that for his contribution to the development of scientific thought in the field of agriculture, he received several awards and public recognitions, including the 27 July State Prize of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Veselin Masleša Award and the European Union Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mrs. Mina Kujović, longtime associate who was also the editor of most of his books bid farewell to Dr. Jusuf Mulić. Commenting on the cooperation with Professor Mulić, she emphasized that she had just learned from him how and how much to do and added that he was concerned about the current social situation and the slow development of our country.
Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector said that the University of Sarajevo academic community was left without a single member of an impressive life and academic journey. “Professor Mulić was singled out by his extraordinary curiosity in life, which simply predetermined him for dedicated scientific and research work, which predominantly devoted to the fields of agrarian and economic sciences, made him a versatile polyglot, for example, retiring only changed the field of scientific interest, and it was by no means an academic passivation.”
Rector Škrijelj recalled that in 1991, Professor Mulić began his term as University of Sarajevo Rector and stressed that he had a particularly painful and poignant role, as a Rector, in witnessing the unprecedented war destruction of the City of Sarajevo, the State of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the University of Sarajevo as foundations of the Bosnian society. “It was this experience that ended his active academic engagement, and after his term of office he retired early, devoted to history, and published numerous monographs on the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, numismatics and education, and the two-volume Biographical Lexicon of Konjic with a university education” said Rector Škrijelj.

Prof. Dr. Jusuf Mulić was born in 1933 in Konjic, in a respected family of respected wood carvers. In his hometown he attended elementary school and lower real high school, and finished high school in Banja Luka. He graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture in Sarajevo in 1957. After completing his studies and military service, he was selected as an assistant at the Faculty of Agriculture in the subject of Costs and Calculations. He devoted himself to the study of agrarian microeconomics. He held a Master's degree from the University of Naples (Italy) and a PhD from the Faculty of Agriculture in Sarajevo. He received several specializations at foreign universities and completed a postdoctoral course in the class of distinguished professor Günter Weinschenck at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart (FR Germany).
He was a visiting assistant professor and professor at universities in Italy and Germany.
He wrote a large number of scientific and vocational papers, which have been published in the most respected domestic and foreign journals. He has published several textbooks and manuals on agricultural microeconomics and experimental statistics.
Significant contribution of Prof. Dr. Jusuf Mulić in Bosnia and Herzegovina's Historiography is noted. Professor Jusuf Mulić has long been involved in the study of information on the history of Muslim schooling in Bosnia and Herzegovina, from Ottoman occupation in the second half of the 15th century until the first decade after World War II, when all Muslim schools except Gazi Husrev-bey Madrasah Sarajevo were closed. This research resulted in the publication of ten monographs on Muslim education. He was a fulltime professor at the Faculty of Food Sciences and Agriculture. He was elected in the title of professor emeritus in 2004.
