On this page, you can find out all you need to know on how to apply to the University of Sarajevo whether you are student (exchange or degree) or staff (academic or administrative).


ADMISSION CRITERIA
In order to apply to the University of Sarajevo you have to check if:

Students (for exchange):

  • there is a valid inter-institutional agreement between your home university and the University of Sarajevo (Erasmus or non-Erasmus, bilateral),
  • you are a current student at your home university,
  • your home university has nominated you to study/research at the University of Sarajevo.

Students (for degree):

  • you are an holder of valid previous degree (high school diploma for BA, BA degree diploma for MA, MA degree diploma for PhD). For degree purposes, please click on the interested study cycle: Bachelor | Master | PhD

Staff (academic of administrative exchange):

  • there is a valid inter-institutional agreement between your home university and the University of Sarajevo (Erasmus or non-Erasmus, bilateral),
  • you are an current employee at your home institution during the application,
  • your home university has nominated you to teach/train at the University of Sarajevo.

If you are applying for exchange to the University of Sarajevo, please follow next steps:

1. DURATION

Based on mobility programs such as Erasmus+ or through bilateral agreement, students can apply for the period of 1-2 semesters, while staff can apply for 7-60 days. Duration is usually determined in the mobility program public call.


2. STUDY PROGRAMMES 

You will have to find the courses (students) or departments (staff) that are in correlation with what are you studying/working at your home institution. Those information are needed to prepare you documents for application. More information about academic offer are given here.


3. NOMINATION PROCEDURE

Whether you are applying through program that is funded from European or some other international institution, or coming on your own expenses, you must be officially nominated by your home institution. Nomination is done through email communication from your home coordinator who send us candidates data (name, surname, study field, study cycle, email, and preferably completed learning/mobility agreement) by given deadlines. Nomination(s) is/are sent to emails provided in the call (usually to the International Relations Office).


4. APPLICATION PROCEDURE & DOCUMENTS

After official nomination from your home university, if we do not receive your documents in the nomination procedure, you will be contacted by our office to send needed documents by given deadlines. 

STUDENTS need to send next documents:
1 Learning Agreement
2 Transcript of records
3 Proof of knowledge of Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian or English language
4 CV (Europass form)

STAFF needs to send next documents:
1 Mobility agreement for teaching or training
2 Invitation letter
3 CV (Europass form)

Templates of required documents can be found on the bottom of this page. When you collect and fill in needed documents as explained in instructions, please send your documents to erasmus@unsa.ba by given deadlines (below).


4a. APPLICATION DEADLINES

Winter semester (September – February) / full academic year
Nomination by your home International Relations office: 15 May 
Application by incoming student/staff: 30 May 

Summer semester (February - July)
Nomination by your home International Relations office: 15 November 
Application by incoming student/staff: 30 November


5. RESPOND AND RESULTS

After your official nomination and application, we will forward your profile with documents to the host member institution at the University of Sarajevo to the faculty coordinators. They will bring decision based on the information provided in the application documents. You should receive your respond in duration of 4 weeks. You will be informed whether your application is accepted or declined. After we receive your application documents and your host department has approved your nomination, we will send you a letter of admission and information on living and studying in Sarajevo.

If you are applying for the exchange mobility through program Mevlana, please check the offer and instructions at you home institution. Contact person for Mevlana at the University of Sarajevo is Ms. Ljiljana Šulentić (ljiljana.sulentic@unsa.ba).


If you are applying through CEEPUS programme, contact official communication officer at your home institution and check if there's a CEEPUS network between your institution and University of Sarajevo.
