Government, business and academic community actors in BiH and the region jointly reach new recommendations for the development of economic and business environment

The Faculty of Economics, University of Sarajevo is organizing the 4th Economic Forum of Bosnia and Herzegovina which will be held on 5 March 2020 at the Holiday Hotel, Sarajevo. The keynote speaker of Forum 2020 is Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, Special Advisor to the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the Sustainable Development Goals and Professor at Columbia University.

The Program of the BiH Economic Forum 2020 is designed in two panel sessions:
1.    SDGs AND WESTERN BALKANS 2020 - NEW NARRATIVE (Sustainable Development Goals and the Western Balkans 2020 - A New Narrative)
2.    WESTERN BALKANS 4.0: GROWING DIGITAL TOGETHER (IMPACT ON THE BANKING SECTOR) (Western Balkans 4.0: Joint Digital Development (Impact on the Banking Sector)

The panelists of the first session are representatives of the Western Balkans 2020 initiative, and their discussion will address issues of the Sustainable Development Goals in the context of the Western Balkan countries. Jadranka Kosor, Croatian Prime Minister (2009-2011) will speak about the situation in the countries of the region and what together these countries can do with the aim of improving the economic and business environment; Filip Vujanović, President and Prime Minister of Montenegro (2013-2018); Mirko Cvetković, Prime Minister of Serbia (2008-2012); Fadil Novalić, the current Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first session moderator is Prof. Dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija.

Representatives of banks and IT sectors in BiH and Croatia will speak about the importance of digital development and the future of digital in the Western Balkans region, with an impact on the banking sector: Jasmin Mahmuzić, Director of the Banking Agency of the Federation of BiH; Boško Mekinjić from the Board of Directors of the Banking Association of BiH; Martina Drvar, Vice Governor of the Croatian National Bank; Mersed Camdžić, CEO of Mistral; and Amina Karić, Vice President of Operations at Authority Partners. The second session moderator is Mr. Branimir Muidža.

Economic Forum BiH 2020 will be opened by prof. dr. Jasmina Selimovic, Dean of the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, Zoran Tegeltija, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Johan Sattler, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH and EU Special Representative to BiH.

Featured by Dr. Sachs, this year's special attention will be paid to creating the preconditions for the development of a regional network for promoting the Sustainable Development Goals network (SDGN) as part of the global Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).

The Economic Forum of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a platform for meeting and dialogue between the executive, business and academic communities, aimed at creating an attractive business environment. The expected results of the dialogue are suggestions and guidelines that will be made available to the business community, academia and economic policy makers.
